Years ago, my first overnight hikes included a pack that weighed near fifty pounds. I am a smaller guy with a knee that has a tendency to be a little shaky. I decided to gradually reduce the weight of my pack by purchasing a couple lightweight products each year, and today I typically have base weight between 10 and 20 pounds depending on the season.
The items in my pack and on this list are not necessarily being recommended, but are items that I enjoy and consider still worthy of joining me on the trail. What you see below is my primary kit for my preferred seasons and weather conditions.
